@CARSLaCarta presents “a Papaya Full House”
For the ones who knows very little about poker and cards (I am in this group), a full house is defined as any three cards of the same number or face value, plus any other two cards of the same number or face value (definition gotten from : https://www.pokernews.com ). In a way, these winning cards were in Zak Brown’s possession last weekend. Perhaps, the only who was absent to the big celebration was Sam Bird (Neom McLaren #8).
Second and fourth places
All second places in #ShanghaiEPrix R12 (Formula E), #MonacoGP (Formula 1) and, #Indy500 were cards belonging to the same team, sharing the traditional Papaya dye. Results for drivers meant the exact opposite. To get the whole Full House, Zak needed two other cards belonging to his team. These last two got the names of Lando Norris (Formula 1) and Alex Rossi (Indy500). Both of them crossed the start/finish line in fourth position. The Briton just behind Carlos Sainz Jr and the American overtaken by the perennial Scott Dixon.
Formula E — #ShanghaiEPrix
After winning his ever pole position in Formula E by 0.001 sec over Vandoorne, Jake Hughes drove a consistent race, always in the leading group. Although it is clear that he is fast, Jake is still a fantastic number two and surely, he will be the team’s leader in a couple of years.
Hughes was intelligent enough to deal with the energy while battling against Antonio Felix da Costa, Norman Nato, Stoffel Vandoorne and Nick Cassidy among others. By the last laps, Jake secured his running up position behind the Portuguese and secured his first Formula E podium.
Formula 1 — #Monaco GP
In a boring race (which we have explained at: “Was Monaco only boring…. or ‘something is rotten in the state of Formula 1’”), Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris drove a slow and careful race to finish at the same places they had started — second and fourth. To explain the lack of interest/technical problems presented in the team’s effort to go for the leadership, Andrea Stella stated that the Aussie car got significative floor damage. Behind him and Sainz, Lando Norris — who did not have a significative floor damage- could do very little in a very slow race to keep his fourth place.
Indy500
Here the fight was a fierce battle between the 33 drivers, teams, engineers and strategists. The last laps of the race showed Pato O’Ward (McLaren) fighting against Josep Newgarden (Penske). Behind them Alex Rossi (McLaren) trying to defend his third position against Scott Dixon (Ganassi).
Unfortunately for Brown’s drivers, even they presented a hard defence (and believe me, Pato did all his best and a bit more to win the race) Newgarden overtook O’Ward on the same last lap to win the 500. Metres behind them, Dixon displayed his skills to secure the third position ahead of Rossi, fourth.
Faces at the Papaya Full House
Happiness could be seen in Jake and Oscar’s faces. O’Ward’s mirrored the pain of being defeated by almost nothing. Zak Brown also displayed a huge smile. Not all teams can be so proud of having a winning a full house in the most important car racing weekend of the year. Well done Papaya, Bruce should be proud of you.-
